FRENCH PRESS

The French Press is a coffee brewing device that was first patented by Italian designer Attilio Calimani in 1929 and has gone through several design modifications over the years to get to its current design.  It is perfect for making multiple cups of heavy bodied coffee

Grind your beans as course as breadcrumbs

FRENCH PRESS METHOD

  1. Pour hot water into your empty French Press to warm it up as this helps maintain temperature while brewing for best extraction
  2. Measure and grind 56 grams of beans
  3. Discard the hot water from your French Press and now add your ground coffee to the empty press. Start your timer as soon as you starting pouring the hot water.  Fill your French Press with hot water halfway, saturating all the grounds
  4. At 1 minute, use a wooden spoon to break the top layer we call crust. Give it a good stir
  5. Now, fill the press all the way to the top with hot water. Place the top on the press and allow the coffee to brew without pressing it down
  6. At 4 minutes, you are ready to press. Firmly push the press all the way down
  7. Now pour into your mug and enjoy. If you are not going to drink straight away, pour into another heated carafe to avoid over extraction. If the coffee sits on the grounds for too long it continues to extract and will become bitter
